Not unlike the agrarian imagery of a seemingly lifeless seed suddenly sprouting and giving way to an abundant harvest* or like the radical transformation of the caterpillar from the shrouded stage which arguably very closely resembles lifelessness into a totally new and vibrant organism, Johnathan T. Leonard Memorial Scholarships was born or birthed after the premature and unexpected ending of Johnathan Terry Leonard’s life in 2020. So, Johnathan T. Leonard Memorial Scholarships was created as an amazing tribute and a living legacy by which the essence of Johnathan’s humanity has an amazing opportunity to live on not only in through the lives of the three individuals to whom he donated his organs, but also to the numerous students and organizations who embody his life’s purpose of teaching and inspiring those he came in contact with to live the kind of life that other people dream of and leaving the world just a little bit better off than how they found it.
