Announcement
June 2021 – Numerous research studies have been conducted with regard to the positive effects of auditory stimulation on minimally conscious or comatose individuals. Which is why the family of Johnathan T. Leonard is pleased to announce the donation of MP3 players with pre-recorded words of inspiration to the chaplain department at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. The MP3 players are to be used in the hospital’s emergency and trauma victim units free of charge for those families and individuals who believe in the power of spoken words of inspiration and of music on the human consciousness.
Although not part of a formal study, this donation is in line with Johnathan T. Leonard Memorial Scholarships & Grants’ desire to support research studies that are being conducted to learn more about the positive effects of auditory stimulation on minimally conscious or comatose individuals. The family of Johnathan T. Leonard strongly believes that, given a little more time, the positive effects of hearing inspirational words, music, and familiar voices may have had a positive effect on his medical condition and perhaps, by faith, raised his level of consciousness.
Note: This donation does not constitute an endorsement by, direct affiliation with, maintenance of, authorization of, or sponsorship of Johnathan T. Leonard Memorial Scholarships & Grants by the hospital or its foundation.
